Winter skincare: 6 steps you need to follow for healthy skin
>>> The cold, humid weather of winter has a strong effect on your skin, thus you need to adjust your skincare routine a little bit. Here are 6 steps to follow which are essential to all skin types!   

Winter comes means your skin has been through three seasons full of sunlight, changes of weather, dust, wind, through various activities such as swimming, travel, changes in eating habit,... Your skin has definitely a fighter. To give it more support to overcome winter, you need to follow these 6 essential steps strictly. 

1. Clean your skin 

The very first step is cleaning your skin thoroughly. A clean skin will absorb beauty products better.  

Notice: You should use a gentler cleanser and wash your face faster in winter to avoid dryness. Dry skin should be applied foamless creamy cleanser, while oily skin should use foam cleanser or foaming gel cleanser.

2. Exfoliate your skin

This step is usually left out in skincare routine of many ladies. In fact, ladies who have exfoliated skin will agree with Big C that their skin is fresher, brighter and cleaner than before. This step helps to remove the “barrier” of dead cells and allow beauty products to get in. 

For oily skin, you should choose charcoal exfoliator to remove the excess oil. For dry skin, exfoliator included extra moisture is highly recommended. For normal skin, you can use scrub cleansers (the size of scrub should be as small as possible to avoid skin damage) for deep clean.

3. Balance the pH of your skin 

The purpose of this step is to keep your skin from becoming too dry or oily, minimize pores and push the skin to absorb nutrients. To balance your skin moisture, toners or conditioners are needed right after face wash. Pour a suitable amount of toner onto a cotton pad and apply gently. Avoid pressing too hard on your skin or stretching it to create wrinkles.

4. Apply the right moisturizers for your skin

The three previous steps are to create the foundation for this fourth step to take effect. In other seasons, moisturizing is important. To winter, it’s even a must as the cold weather at the same time reduces oil and natural moisture, resulting seriously in your skin dehydration and dryness.  

➤ To ladies with dry skin, winter is such an “archenemy”. Let’s pay attention to products that include Hyaluronic Axit, glycerin, ceramides; creams that have antioxidant function, active elements such as extracts from green tea, grapes, vitamin E & C, etc.

➤ To ladies with oily skin, do not be subjective as in fact, the dryer your skin is, the more oil it produces. Drink much water and use water-based gel moisturizers which have Hyaluronic Axit, Glycolic Axit & Niacinamide.

➤ To ladies with sensitive skin, you’d better try product sample on your inner skin of wrist 24h before purchase. Avoid products with paraben (or methylparaben, propylparaben, ethylparaben, butylparaben), Sodium lauryl sulfate, mineral oil, fragrance, perfume, etc.

5. Use face mask for additional help

Face mask is an additional step to help maintain the moisture of your skin, increase the smooth, soft, natural shining texture. You can buy masks from supermarkets or store, or make fruit DIY mask at home. However, remember to check these mask effects as some of them make your skin tan easily.  The frequency of mask application should not more than 2 - 3 times. You also need to choose the appropriate masks to your skin type.

6. Apply sunscreen to protect your skin

Do not be subjective when thinking sunscreen is useless in winter. Actually, UV light exists despite the existence of sunlight. Always apply sunscreen right after moisturizers step and cover your skin under the sun. If you have to go out for a long time, apply sunscreen every two hours. 
Notice: Just apply a thin layer of sunscreen. Overusing it will cause acne and aging. Do not use body sunscreen for face and vice versa.
